What is a gene panel test?

A gene panel is a set list, or a panel, of genes that are associated with a certain condition or list of symptoms. Typical panels consist of hundreds of genes and are curated from variant databases and scientific literature.

We use industry-standard equipment and a strong analysis pipeline to detect any gene variations that could have clinially significant effects, and report them to you and/or your doctor to help guide your next steps.

When should I order a gene panel test?

If there is a good idea of what the diagnosis is or if you need genetic confirmation of your diagnosis. When it may not be clear what genes need to be analyzed, or if multiple panels will need to be ordered, we recommend whole exome sequencing (WES) or whole genome sequencing (WGS), which can be more cost- and time-effective than ordering multiple panel tests.

We offer gene panels for the following:

  • Cardiology
  • Dementia
  • Epilepsy
  • Hearing Loss
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Vision Loss
